Support HB 3344, Licensure for Roofing Contractors

The Texas House of Representatives Trade, Workforce and Economic Development Committee will hold a hearing on HB 3344 - Licensure for Roofing Contractors on Tuesday, April 15, at 10:30.

We need your help:

   Currently, our state’s roofing industry is plagued by bad actors who scam hardworking Texans, perform little to no work, and vanish after collecting payment. These fraudulent practices not only harm homeowners but also undermine legitimate businesses like mine.

   
   

   HB 3344 would protect consumers by creating commonsense licensing requirements for roofing contractors, similar to those that exist for electricians, plumbers, and HVAC professionals. The bill would also create an online database of licensed contractors and require written contracts with clear, transparent terms—tools that empower consumers and promote trust.

   
   

   All Texans deserve to have a safe roof overhead. I respectfully ask you to support HB 3344 to protect consumers and promote accountability in the roofing industry.

As a Texas homeowner, I’ve seen how easy it can be to fall victim to dishonest roofing contractors. Too many people in our state have been scammed by bad actors or had a shoddy roof put on, which puts families at risk. It’s not right, and it’s time for change.

House Bill 3344 would help protect homeowners like me by creating basic licensing requirements for roofing contractors—just like we already have for HVAC professionals, plumbers, and electricians. These are common sense steps that would give Texans more peace of mind and help stop the scammers.
